At the end of 2020 the price of steel jump significantly, and it has continued on its upward trend due to lockdowns and covid19 regulations.

August 2020 Metal Price to October 2021:

August, September, and October 2020: The price of steel increased about +7.5%.
December 2020: The steel price had a major uptick of about +20% from August 2020.
January 2021: The price of steel had jumped up +37% from August 2020.
February/March 2021: The price of raw, bare steel is up over +75% from August 2020.
October 2021: The National Union of Metalworkers of SA (Numsa) plans to hit the streets in all nine provinces on Tuesday, 5 October, after wage talks deadlocked with steel and engineering industry employers, with the firebrand leader of the Cosatu breakaway, Irvin Jim, promising that workers would stay at the lines for as long as it took employers to budge on an 8% salary bump.

Unfortunately, data and market trends indicate no price decreases sooner then 2025. And with possible disruption in stock/supply from local immanent strike action doesn’t indicate any positive news for the steel price for 2021.
